About me
Welcome,
to my world of Windsor chair craftsmanship! My name is Jay, and I hail from the beautiful state of Minnesota, USA. My journey as a Windsor chair maker began in 2013, during my time deployed in Germany, where a spark of passion was ignited by the inspiring works of master chairmaker Curtis Buchanan. This newfound passion led me to a path of self-taught skills and formal training under a respected American chairmaker.
In 2015,
I made a life-altering decision to leave my office job and dedicate myself fully to the craft of making Windsor chairs. What sets my chairs apart is my meticulous selection of fresh wood, the intricate crafting of delicate backrests, and the artistic shaping of the legs. Each chair is not merely a piece of furniture, but a testament to the art of woodworking and a reflection of nature's beauty.
Looking forward, I am excited to share my passion and knowledge through courses, aiming to inspire and train the next generation of chair makers. My goal is to craft handmade chairs that are not only functional but also seamlessly blend with the natural characteristics of the wood, creating pieces that are harmonious and timeless.
Join me in celebrating the art of Windsor chair making, where each piece tells a story of dedication, artistry, and the beauty of handcrafted tradition.
